Sometimes I want a game to be more than just a game. I want it to go beyond the box of what can be done with a game without taking itself serious in the least bit. Well, Asura’s Wrath sets that box on fire, punches it, and throws it out of the window and doesn’t care if you like it or not.
Asura’s Wrath looks at your other games and laughs at them. Poorly written monologues and dialogue options? Who wants that? Just press a button and shut the guy up by punching him in the face. Gameplay? Most games don’t even have much of the any more so why fill a game up with that if nobody wants to play it? Just get to the meat of the game which are just interactive cut scenes.
You’re a pissed off God who died over 12,000 years ago and now you’re back to kill the other Gods. You also get in a fight with Earth. That’s right you fight the planet. How do you that? You punch it in the face that’s how. As the game loses any sense of order your sanity slips away with it. You fight a fat guy bigger than the planet and you hit him so hard he disintegrates. You have one fight that starts on the Moon and then you get stabbed with a sword so long it goes all the way through the Earth and out the other side. The levels are set up like a anime show complete with hot springs episode where you stare at some boobs and get drunk. As the game explodes through the limits of stupidity you constantly go from zero to six arms for no real purpose. Then it keeps going.
This game will be remembered by the masses for absolutely nothing. It will be forgotten and lost in the shuffle of games who marketing budgets are high enough to completely fund ten other games that aren’t overrated schlock. I’m just happy we can still get games that are fun for all the right reasons. So give this Asura’s Wrath a shot.
